This retreat is designed to offer dedicated time and space away from our everyday surroundings in order to ground and connect with what we really matters. The intentional setting is meant to inspire an interruption to routines and patterns so we can be more available to think creatively about our school communities and the power of culture and counter-culture.

How can schools, classrooms, and other educational spaces be best designed to support deep and lifelong learning? How can architects, educators, and designers create places for learning that incorporate the latest research and innovative practices from around the globe? This institute convenes teams in an interactive and intensive 3.5-day studio format in which participants learn from leading experts and apply lessons to their active projects.

Facilitated by expert workshop leaders in 4.5-hour sessions over three consecutive days, these highly interactive virtual workshops take place over Zoom and feature an additional three hours of asynchronous work in Canvas required to earn a completion certificate.

This institute will provide new teachers with the strategies essential to build connections and foundations for long, successful careers in independent schools. Sessions and content will reflect best practices and will support the development of skills in many facets of teaching and learning in independent schools.

This workshop provides an overview of UDL and the major shifts associated with the recent 3.0 updates. Then reconnect for three, 90-minute online sessions across the school year to focus on the design process, applying and reflecting on UDL-aligned strategies, and addressing relevant problems of practice.

Explore best practices and the principles of open inquiry and discourse, while examining how efforts to foster inclusivity and broaden perspectives connect to preparing young people to participate in a thriving, diverse, and pluralistic democracy.
